Community Involvement
In high school, I was a mentor for kids in elementary school who needed a positive role model in their life. I would go visit them during my lunch period at high school and play floor hockey, any board game they loved, or help them with their school work. This was one of the first tasks of leadership I was given as a high schooler and I always look back on it and am happy I accepted the offer to be a mentor.
As a child, I went through Sunday School. As a teen, I was confirmed through Our Savior's Lutheran Church and assisted in the teaching of Sunday School. As a high schooler, I assisted a confirmation guide and led a Vacation Bible School group. I always enjoyed helping teach the younger groups as I got older because I could relate to them since I had recently been in their shoes.
I also helped the food shelf, raised money for worthy causes, and led youth sports camps.
As a Thrivent member, I have the opportunity to volunteer and lead a Thrivent Action Team helping make an impact in their communities. I have previously led a Thrivent Action Team to renovate the youth room to make it more suitable for younger students. I also led a Thrivent Action Team to supply our church with food and beverages used to greet church attendees.
